Group lessons, held at Newlands Neighbourhood House, 20 Murray Rd, Coburg

This a fun and social way to learn! Group levels are described below as a general guide, but if you’re not sure where you fit or can’t attend at the time specified, get in touch, and we’ll work out what’s best for you.

There are 5 fortnightly lessons each term, generally following the school term dates. We learn 2 – 3 songs a term, in a way that suits the level and interests of the group.

Casual or blocks of private lessons, held in Coburg

Private lessons are a great option to get started as an absolute beginner, work on specific songs or techniques, or get extra help with group lesson songs if needed. You’re welcome to come along with a friend and split the cost!

Book a casual spot for a one-off lesson, or a block of 3 fortnightly lessons. One missed lesson can be rescheduled within the term (or more if you are sick).

Lessons can be 60, 45 or 30 minutes, depending on your preference and level of experience. 60 minutes can be great for more experienced guitarists, whereas 45 minutes is generally long enough for beginners. 30 mins is ideal for a quick check of which group would be best for you.

Term 1: Feb 2 – April 2 (5 fortnights)

Term 2: Private lessons available from late May. Special Intensive with Ukelear Power June 13, 14, 20, 21

Term 3: July 13 – September 18 (5 fortnights)

Term 4: October 5 – Dec 11 (5 fortnights)

ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS: for people who have no or just a little experience with guitar.	This is a new group for Absolute Beginners – quite a rare occurrence so jump in if you’ve been waiting for a low cost option to getting started with guitar. LEVEL 1: for people who’ve been playing for approx 6 months+ and know some open chords and basic strumming techniques	We refine and consolidate chord changes and strumming, & work on simple fingerpicking, riffs and embellishments	Tuesday 6.30 – 7.30pm fortnightly	Starts Tue 14th July BOOK HERE
PLAY N SING: open to all stringed instrument players who would like a more relaxed, low cost, sing along style session, along with some gentle music appreciation	This group has less teaching, easy playing options for all, and plenty of encouragement to sing along with the group, try a harmony or even a spot of solo singing! MUSIC THEORY FOR STRINGS TWO: for guitarists and bass players who have some foundational understanding of the major scale, intervals and chords for guitar and bass and would like to learn more!	We’ll explore the foundations of Western music as they apply to guitar and bass, with a particular focus on keys and chord families.	Tuesday 7.30 – 8.30pm fortnightly	Starts Tues 21 July BOOK HERE
SONGWRITING WORKSHOPS: for people with all levels of songwriting experience who would like to work through a guided songwriting process	Each workshop will have a specific theme to explore, and guided exercises to move through the songwriting process in a supportive and encouraging environment	2 part workshop Thursdays 7.00 – 9.00pm	Thur 6 & 20 August BOOK HERE

Fees for Term 3 2026

Fees cover the cost of lessons, as well as access to song charts and practice videos. There are multiple fee options to allow everyone to participate, including payment plans and free group places for First Nations people and people doing it tough financially, no questions asked.
