Melbourne Ukulele Festival, March 17 – 19 2023
Women’s Guitar Group students who were part of Summer School 2023 joined Chicks with Picks at the Melbourne Ukulele Festival in Northcote. We played a set of songs (along with some ukulele players!) at the Wesley Ann on Sunday 19 March. It was great to be part of the festival vibe!
Chicks with Picks Summer School, February 1 – 4 2023
We started the musical year with a pick and a strum, joining Chicks wth Picks in Surrey Hills for 4 days of Summer School! We learnt a great set of songs and enjoyed “performing” them on our last day together. We’ll be back for Winter School!
Busking at the Post Office Hotel, December 14 2022
Well the rain foiled our busking plans, but the silver lining was a real gig in the Post Office Hotel beer garden!

We had so much fun performing at the Feminista Vinyl Open Mic. We had the audience singing along, and our solos were a hit!! Looking forward to the next one already.

Songwriting Workshop, July 20 2022
Women’s Guitar Group is very excited to present
Rose Turtle Ertler’s Songwriting Workshop
Open to all women and girls, including those who have never written a song as well as those with more experience. BYO your instrument of choice.
Rose has been writing songs for as long as she can remember. Her first original song was about Santa Claus – “Santa, he brings gifts to the kiddies / Santa, he brings the kiddies their goodies.” Brilliant, hey! Over the years, she has experimented with different songwriting methods and has written hundreds of songs on her own as well as collaboratively in bands. http://www.roseturtleertler.com/music
This workshop will be a fun look at some different approaches to songwriting. We’ll look at lyric writing, melody and song structure and explore lots of possibilities for ways to get started on writing a song.
